As a Member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), Sumy State University benefits, among other dedicated advantages, from an advanced access to IAU Knowledge Hub. This includes a complimentary subscruption to two key IAU databases:

The World Higher Education Database (WHED) is the IAU unique online reference portal that provides authoritative information on some 19,400 accredited higher education institutions as well as on higher education systems and credentials in 196 countries and territories. It is globally recognized as an official source of information.

Education system and credentials

The WHED provides a fact sheet describing the structure of each country’s higher education system and credentials.
It is comprised of information on:

  • the different types of higher education institutions available in the country
  • the overall structure of the pre-higher and higher education system (including the different stages of study)
  • the national bodies responsible for higher education (including associations and organisations located within the country)
  • admission requirements (including for foreign students)
  • the quality assurance and recognition systems
  • student life
  • the main credentials

The International Bibliographical Database on Higher Education (HEDBIB) – database is a unique resource of references and publications on higher education systems, administration, planning, policy and evaluation from around the world. Links to electronic publications are provided where freely available. New higher education publications are identified by the IAU Information Centre monitoring team. References are also contributed by our partner organisations: UNESCO Headquarters, the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), Associació Catalana d'Universitats Públiques (ACUP), Universities South AfricaSouthern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA), Union de Universidades de América Latina (UDUAL).

New in HEDBIB is divided into IAU's four priority themes: The Role of Technology in Higher Education; Internationalization, Higher Education and Research for Sustainable Development; and Values-Based Leadership; in addition to other diverse topics. The thematic priorities of the IAU are further divided by region.

Each edition of New in HEDBIB is supplemented by the IAU selection "We recommend", which highlights one or more publications.
