October 21-27 - International Open Access Week. This year, the Week will be under the slogan "Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge" "Open to Whom? Equal access to open knowledge."

In the context of globalization and total digitization, open science and data have long become the trend of today. Open access to scientific information and research is not only a challenge of time, but also one of the basic requirements and conditions for the development of science, scientific communication, improving the quality of education, integration of Ukrainian science in the European and world space.

At Sumy State University, open access providers are: repository – electronic archive of academic texts of students and scholars of the university; websites of scientific periodicals of the university with access to full-text archives of journals; open educational resources of the university.

During the Week, the library will host a series of events for students, graduate students, and teachers dedicated to applied aspects of open science.

We begin the Open Access Week together with Artem Artyukhov and Tatiana Marynich. We are talking about the role of academic integrity in open access to information and the public importance of open data.

October 24 (Thursday) – "Open Access: Equal Opportunities for Everyone". Seminar:

  • opportunities and tendencies of open science
  • open educational resources
  • practical aspects of selecting a journal for publication
  • practical aspects of using open access licenses
  • the role of open repositories and research data archives
  • research data management tools


October 23 (Wednesday), October 29 (Tuesday) – Elsevier and Enago Academy webinars:

  • opportunities and tendencies of open science
  • tools for organizing a researcher profile
  • world achievements and benefits of open science
