In October-November 2019, the SumDU Library will host an exhibition “Retrospection” of Sumy artist, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Igor Shvachunov. The artist studied at the Kursk State Pedagogical Institute at the Department of Art and Graphics (1978-1983), attended the People’s Studio of Fine Arts in Sumy under the direction of B. Danchenko.
I. Shvachunov is now a teacher of painting and drawing at the SUMDPU A.S. Makarenko. He is a participant in regional, national and international exhibitions. Areas of creative activity: easel painting, drawing, conceptual photography, land art.
I. Shvachunov’s exhibition “Retrospection” is presented by 25 works. His paintings are a desire to comprehend the philosophy of the city, recreating every urban breath in the touch of a brush. The exhibition is represented mainly by urban landscapes, where the hometown of Sumy is known. It is also easy to recognize the picturesque surroundings of Kosiv region, the quiet courtyards of Trostyanets. Both rural landscapes and still lives enchanting with bright colours take place in the exhibition exposition.
