This year Lina Kostenko celebrates her 90th birthday.
On this occasion, the All-Ukrainian Flash Mob of video readings of poems by the genius Ukrainian poetess was launched, which has already been joined by hundreds of Ukrainians from around the world. Librarians and students of Sumy State University also joined the flash mob.
Sumy State University continues a good tradition of cooperation with higher education institutions that have been relocated from the occupied territories. Last year, more than 200 copies of educational and scientific literature were sent to the Donetsk Law Institute, which currently carries out educational activities in Kryvyi Rih.
This time the university took part in the charity event "Good Multiplies Good" in support of Luhansk National Agrarian University.
For the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries, the SumDU Library has launched a campaign "Give a Book to the Library". This is a voluntary initiative aimed at increasing interest and access to books. The purpose of the event is to inspire people to donate a book to the library and allow other readers to get to know your preferences.
If your home library has textbooks, dictionaries, fiction, or books in foreign languages that you no longer need, they will find their reader in the library.
In early 2020, as a gift from PortaOne, SumDU Library received modern books on IT, which will help students and teachers to learn the most popular programming languages, learn about the universal rules of software architecture, explore the theory of database systems. You can view the publication in the reading room of the Central Library (LIC-305).
We invite you to view the book exhibition "2020 – The Year of Europe in Ukraine" for anyone interested in the problems of the development of the European Union and European integration of Ukraine.
The European Union is an of 28 states that have united on the basis of universal and democratic values to achieve stability, peace, and prosperity. Ukrainian state has identified integration with the European community as a priority of its development.
The books are available at the Central Library, 2nd Floor (LIC 208) and at the Library Branch, Reading Room (Congress Center, room 202)
Ukrainian Unity Day is a holiday, which is celebrated to mark the signing of the treaty between the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's
Republic, on the St Sophia Square in Kyiv, on January 22 in 1919. The first official celebration of Ukrainian Unity Day at the state level took place on January 22, 1939, in the capital of the Carpathian Ukraine − Khust. In modern Ukraine, at the state level, that day was first celebrated in 1999.
Today this holiday is celebrated by the creation of a human chain that unites the Western and Eastern parts of the country.
The first chain was created in 1990 when more than a million patriotic Ukrainians joined hands and united the way from Kyiv to Lviv.
